Tsar Of All The Britons

Tsar Of All The Britons:
One of my older time-lines that I finally got around to finishing. In this time-line the Russia of Tsar Ivan IV manages to gain a port city and turns its attention back towards Europe and doesn't fall behind their neighbours like OTL. Russia cultivates good relations between their nation and the England of Elizabeth I. Eventually the alliance is solidified between the two nations with a political marriage. The children that are produced preserve the alliance and the two nations become closer and closer.

The Russo-British Empire is still going and enthusiastically modernising. The Empire is a bilingual nation with both English and Russian as languages of equal importance and taught in schools. Russia expanded earlier and further than OTL and alongside the British trade outposts built a massive empire that has mostly survived to this day. Russo-Britain is now a constitutional monarchy with the monarchy absolute in theory but constrained by tradition and the threat of revolution should they use too much of it. The new Parliament is populist, demagogic and dominated by the nobility. The aristocracy have the most power in society and reinforce the traditional social and gender roles through their policies. However ideals such as charity and noblesse oblige are also very important to them. The economy is in turn dominated by the descendants of the former Royal Companies which helped spread the English language into the settled regions like Siberia. Russo-British society is very conservative and jingoistic but the arrival of numerous immigrants from their colonies is beginning to cause some issues across much of the empire. The Empire is mostly Orthodox and even the Anglican Church has taken on numerous features of the Orthodox Church.

Russo-Britain's empire is fairly federal and the more unproductive/troublesome regions were given independence. Along with this the Empire also runs a power bloc of its own made up of the empire and its traditional allies. This bloc is devoted to the ideals of anarchic capitalism, monarchy and traditional social ideals.

A regional power that can theoretically rival Russo-Britain is the Republic of Nueva Espana, which broke away under different circumstances. They overthrew their emperor in the 1910s and have been under an oligarchic, socialistic government since then. They have managed to adapt much of former Spanish America and a few other states into a power bloc united by their shared Coalescist ideology and (mostly) Hispanic culture. Nueva Espana floundered at first but has finally developed their new technocratic government and gained enough weight to begin properly throwing it around. Economic turbulence in the 1970s finally led to some economic reforms that promote small scale capitalism (farmers are allowed to sell surplus for profit).

The French Augustine Bloc has withdrawn into itself and abandoned many of their more worthless colonies to fall apart by themselves. Augustinism is this TL's fascism which was picked up by the French and several other states into their own power bloc. However their near economic collapse has ended their days as an interventionist power and they have confined their activities to internal matters as they work out the economic reforms the new Consul has begun to implement. They do maintain links with a few of their external Augustine allies such as La Plata and India for the sake of security and economic realities.

Africa is now mostly post-colonial and would appear familiar to visitors from OTL in many areas. Whilst language distributions and borders are different, the continent has still suffered from the products of colonialism. South Africa is a little more modernised but is still subject to a form of Apartheid regime. However the Middle East and most of North Africa did a better job of modernising and came through this world's 19th and 20th Century in better shape with a more globalised view.

Technology is a bit more advanced than OTL's with advanced cybernetics, widespread use of GM crops, advanced nuclear power-plants and a whole suite of synthetic materials. Science and technology are viewed in a similar manner to the 60s and 70s and everything looks a bit cyberpunk. Society is more conservative and the prime form of ideology is constitutional monarchy with a capitalist economy. Women's rights are still a bit of an issue and they have only just finished ironing out the new legislature concerning ethnic discrimination.
